Apparently, the highest waterfall in India, Jog falls ( alternatively also called Gerusoppe falls) is created by the Sharavathi river that falls from a height of 253m(830 ft).

Best time to visit: Monsoon season
How to reach & what can you do: Board Talguppa express from Bengaluru at 11 PM and you will reach Talguppa next day morning at around 8 AM. Jog falls is around 20km from Talguppa. Walk out of the station and catch a private bus on the main road that will take you to Talguppa. Hopefully, you should reach Jog falls at around 9.30 AM. If you are lucky and there is not much fog, you will capture a good view of the falls. You can also go near the falls by taking around 1400 steps. You will get a view as seen in the first picture. Be careful, especially in monsoon season, while taking the steps – they will be slightly slippery. You should be able to spend around a good 3 hours, then have lunch at KSTDC Mayura hotel and head back from Jog falls. Take a bus to Sagara which is around 30-45 min ride. You could either head back to Bengaluru if you had already booked a bus or if you have time you could visit Keladi and Sigandur. To head back to Bengaluru, you can board Talguppa express at 8 PM at Talguppa or 8.20 PM at Sagara. You will reach Bengaluru at 4.30 AM next morning.
